Alaina’s Urban Senior Session

I always love traveling out of town to photograph amazing seniors. And a few months ago, I had the absolute pleasure of traveling up to Tallahassee, our state’s capital, for Alaina’s urban senior session. Alaina made every mile of that four hour drive worth it. Her beautiful smile, her creativity, and the fact that she didn’t seem to mind the incredibly steamy humidity that day, made her session even better. I always love a senior who can just go with the flow.

Photos At The Elevator

We kicked things off at Kleman Plaza, in downtown Tallahassee. Alaina had wanted her photos to have a super urban vibe, so this was the perfect place to start her session. It was funny because, as soon as we stepped out of the elevator onto the second floor of Kleman Plaza, we literally couldn’t help but start shooting immediately, right at the elevators. Literally, a few steps outside of the elevators, we started shooting. We were bursting with creativity on the morning of Alaina’s senior session. I knew immediately that her session was going to be an amazing session.

I loved this very first location, and I need to bring some attention to something else too. Check out Alaina’s adorable halter top that she made, just for her senior session. She’s a true creative and decided to make it for her session… starting with a simple plain t-shirt. I loved the whole vibe of her outfit… It was truly Alaina.

The Overlook

After finishing up photographing Alaina by the elevators, we started walking to our next location… the overlook area. This area had great views of Florida State University and is in the heart of downtown Tallahassee. With the sun rising in front of us and some clouds as well, we had perfect early morning light, and it made me so happy.

We walked all around the overlook area, stopping in various spots in front of cool walls, and tall pillars. It was so much fun being creative with Alaina. After we finished at the overlook area, we walked down a few steps that were close by, to some trees that had such pretty flowers on them. The trees formed a canopy over the walkway. It was fun watching Alaina walking back and forth and posing in the adorable way that she does… owning every pose!

The Parking Garage

Next up, we headed over to the parking garage for some more edgy photos. These photos turned out to be my favorites from her session. There was wonderful lighting, with various urban elements and textures. I was in photographer heaven as we shot these photos.

We wrapped up at Kleman Plaza in a courtyard area surrounded by lovely pink flowering trees. The petals gently falling from the branches created a picture-perfect scene that felt like it was straight out of a movie. Also, the fact that pink is my favorite color, made this spot even better! Next, we headed to a local park for the final part of Alaina’s session.

Our Final Location… A Lovely Park

Alaina changed into a more relaxed and casual outfit and, of course, she looked completely adorable! It was the perfect way to wind down and end our time together. Although the humidity was especially brutal the morning of Alaina’s session, we both knew that this is Florida life! And, if it means I get to capture photos that were as beautiful as Alaina’s photos, I’m here for it!!

Now… big dreams and big decisions are still to come for Alaina. I am very excited for her and I can assure you that I will be cheering her on from Tampa as she makes her final decisions for college.
