Early this summer I had the privilege of photographing Allison and Brock’s beautiful church wedding. These two were high school sweethearts and they have known each other for what seems like a lifetime, and their families are very close. So it was only fitting that they chose to celebrate their wedding day at Seven Rivers Church, which is the very church where they have spent so much of their lives growing up. So, clearly, this beautiful church was the perfect location for their summer wedding.
Getting Ready At The Salon
The day began in a unique and fun way, at Southern Grace Salon and Spa where Allison works as a talented hairdresser. Her friend and co-worker, Kayla, was the special person who had the huge privilege of getting Allison ready for her wedding day. I loved walking in, seeing all of the bridesmaids and the mamas of the bride and groom in the front of the salon, relaxing and watching Kayla work her magic. Kayla actually did everyone’s hair and makeup, and she exceeded all expectations… as always!
The salon was full of activity, and not just because of the bridal party. It was also because it was actually open for business! It was such a joy to see clients come in for their appointments, only to find a full bridal party getting ready for a wedding. The energy was contagious, and it was so much fun to hear all of the conversations between the customers and Allison, as she was getting ready for her wedding. The customers were so thrilled to witness a more personal side of Allison’s life, instead of just her more professional side, as a hair stylist at the salon.
While the salon was buzzing with activity, I was on the ground by a window with wonderful light, capturing all of the wedding details: from the rings, to the invitation suite and shoes, to Allison’s beautiful wedding dress, which was hanging in the salon. Let’s not forget capturing those candid moments shared among friends and family.
At The Church
As the preparations wrapped up, we all headed over to the church for the next part of the day. The church had just as much activity as the salon did, with summer camps wrapping up and children being picked up by their parents. Despite the activity, we managed to find some lovely spots on campus that allowed for sweet moments for family photos before the ceremony.
Touching and Heartfelt Moments
One of the more touching moments of the day, prior to the ceremony, was when the pastor came in to both the bride’s and groom’s rooms to pray over them before the ceremony. He knows and loves these families very much, and it was a sweet, intimate moment that set the tone for the meaningful ceremony that would follow. The ceremony itself was filled with heartfelt vows and thoughtful gestures, but the most moving part was when both sets of parents joined together, with their children, to pray over them and their marriage. It was a powerful moment of two families coming together as one.
Husband and Wife
After the ceremony, it was time for husband and wife photos. From their engagement session, I already knew how much fun these two were when they are together — constantly laughing and giggling. I was so excited to capture their photos once the ceremony was finished. I knew we were going to have a blast! We were having so much fun taking their photos, before we knew it, it was time to head inside for the grand entrances.
A Time of Celebration
The reception was nothing short of a huge celebration! There was music, laughter, and dancing as their friends and family gathered to celebrate the newlyweds… or #thenewlyweeds according to their chosen hashtag. The energy was electric, and it never slowed down until it was time for their last dance, just before their grand exit. Having had the opportunity to see the sheer joy on everyone’s faces during this energetic reception, it was such a wonderful reminder of why I truly love what I do.
Allison and Brock, thank you for trusting me to be a part of your unforgettable day. It was an honor and privilege to capture these precious memories from your wedding day! I hope you enjoy re-living your wedding day with some of my favorite photos of the day! And what a beautiful church wedding it was!!!
