It’s not every day a high school senior shows up to his session and says, “Honestly, I’m just here for photos of my truck.” 😂 But that’s exactly how Peyton’s sunrise session started… and I knew, right away, that we were going to get along just fine. This senior and his truck were a blast to photograph, and I’m still in love with his photos.
This shoot wasn’t just about a really cool truck (although this big, black beauty really did steal the show)! It was about capturing the quiet confidence of a young man who was just as kind and well-mannered as he was funny. Peyton has this gentle and easy going spirit. He also has hilarious sense of humor that sneaks up on you in the best way. I found myself laughing for most of his session. What a joy it was to start my day with such an amazing senior.
Peyton is a home schooled senior, who is full of character and depth. He’s hard working, and the kind of guy who knows what he loves, appreciates the small things, and isn’t trying to be anyone but himself. And speaking of hard working, Peyton, is the one who restored his truck, and added in so many special details, as you will see in his photos. He was so proud of his truck, so I knew that I needed to be very intentional in the way that we photographed him and his truck. So, we got started with his senior photos…
A Family Connection
Spending the morning with Peyton and his mom felt more like hanging out with old friends than photographing new clients. I had just recently photographed his older brother’s engagement session, just prior to Peyton’s senior session. So, it honestly felt like stepping into a family I already knew. (Fun fact: I’ll be photographing his brother’s wedding in just two weeks!)
And, we really need to talk about this amazing truck now! Peyton restored it with so much personality. It had vintage license plates, a hat rack on the roof, and even a custom vintage tag inspired by Smokey and the Bandit (if you know, you know 😉). Every detail had a story, and I couldn’t help but admire how much time, care, and craftsmanship Peyton had poured into restoring his truck. I was so impressed with this amazing young man.
Peyton’s session reminded me why I love what I do. It’s not just photographing beautiful light and meaningful milestones, but it’s honestly, getting to see the story behind the person. Peyton has a great story, for sure, and it was an absolute joy to photograph him and his truck!!
Peyton, thank you for letting me be just a small part of your senior year. You brought the charm, the heart, and the horsepower, for sure! Your senior session couldn’t have been more perfect!! Congratulations on your graduation! I know you’re going to do great things!!
