A Destination Beach Senior Session

I will never forget the day that I met Elizabeth on our zoom call to talk about her senior session. She was just hanging out in her room. Elizabeth’s mom was at work that day, but that was okay. So we just continued to talk and get to know one another. But, then she shared something with me that changed the game for her senior session. Elizabeth told me that she didn’t even live in Florida!!! Elizabeth actually lived in Michigan but she wanted a destination senior session, at the beach… in Florida!!!

The Excitement…

I was so excited! I mean, I shoot at the beach all the time, and every beach session is always amazing and so different, because no two sunsets are the same. But, this time, it was different. This sweet high school senior was flying to Florida for her senior pictures and I was determined to make her beach senior session the best possible experience that I could for her. I was here for it, and I could hardly wait to meet her.

So, we started carefully planning out all the details for her session. Elizabeth would fly in town and stay with family friends for the weekend. Then on her session day, my sweet friend, Cami, (who is a talented hair & makeup artist in the Tampa Bay area) and I would meet Elizabeth at her friend’s house, where she would be staying for the weekend. We would get started there, with our Starbucks treats of course, and then head out for the afternoon.

Now, before we go any further, I need to say that everyone should have such amazing friends as Elizabeth. As we were in hair and makeup, Elizabeth talked about the possibility of a floral crown of baby’s breath for her hair, because it was her grandfather’s favorite flowers. As soon as her host mom heard that, she immediately got into her car and went to the grocery store to pick up some baby’s breath. It was a special tribute to her dear grandfather. The crown with Elizabeth’s long curly locks looked gorgeous, and I think that she really loved it! I know that I did!! I especially loved the meaning behind her choice for her hair.

Hair and Makeup

Once Elizabeth was dressed in her first outfit, we headed toward downtown Tarpon Springs to take photos there before heading to the beach for sunset photos. Elizabeth thought of everything for her session. She even snuck her dad’s high school letter jacket into her suitcase so that she could wear it during part of her session. What fun!! I know her dad must have been thrilled when he saw his little girl wearing HIS letter jacket from his high school days.

After we finished up in Tarpon Springs, we headed over to Fred Howard Park to complete her senior session. Since she had come all the way from Michigan for a beach session, I wanted to make sure that she got plenty of palm trees and our beautiful Florida sun light in her photos. It truly was the perfect day for her senior session. We had so much fun playing in the sand and as the sun started to set, we got into the water to finish out her session.

The Beach… The Highlight Of The Day!

Plans For The Future

During this entire process of planning Elizabeth’s senior session, I enjoyed getting to know more about her, than just planning a senior session. Elizabeth shared that she has a strong interest in real estate and would love to focus on that after high school. She is also thinking about pursuing a degree in Business as well. Considering how proactive she was with planning her session, where she would stay while she was in Florida, outfits, florals for her hair, sneaking special jackets from her home… I KNOW that whatever path she decides on, she will excel. She has me convinced, for sure!!!

Congratulations, Elizabeth. You are extraordinary, and I hope that you enjoy the rest of your senior year!!
