Today, let’s welcome Ashlyn to the Blog. I have known Ashlyn for many years now and even when she was much younger, I knew that she was destined for great things. So, it came as no surprise to me when she wanted her senior session to be taken at the Florida State Capitol Building.
Ashlyn grew up as a home school student. That meant that she had plenty of time to study, learn, imagine, and explore things that she was passionate about. As Ashlyn grew up, she noticed a few things. She was wildly creative and she had a natural pull toward public service. By the time she was almost through her high school years, she was serving as a page in our Florida State Capitol Building, in the Florida Senate. Today, even though she has graduated, she hasn’t slowed down one bit. But, before we continue, let’s talk about one of the most unique senior sessions that I have done in quite a while.
Being a page and having that heart for public service, it was only natural that Ashlyn would want her senior session to take place in Tallahassee, at the Florida State Capitol building, where she had spent so many days and weeks during her high school years. It was an early morning for Ashlyn, her mom, and me. But we were so excited to get started. We were up and out early for our adventure of taking her senior pictures at the State Capitol.

We started her session over by the Florida Supreme Court building, because, it was just around the corner from the capitol building and, well… I’m a sucker for aesthetics. The building was beautiful, clean, and oh so white!! We really had lots of fun on the stairs and up by the big, while pillars at the top of the steps. Ashlyn looked so cute in her official page jacket. I was so proud of her.

Then, after finishing up at the supreme court building, we headed over to the capitol building. It was also so big and beautiful. But, in typical Ashlyn fashion, we FIRST had to head inside and say hi to all of her friends that she had made over the past year or so. I loved seeing all of the hugs and fun conversations between her and her friends. She even introduced me to the friends that she had been working with for over a year now. What a fun morning.
Then we headed out to the courtyard area, and on to the beautiful steps. What a lovely building. Ashlyns outfit really contrasted nicely with all of the white. Of course, I was in photographer heaven, with all of the white and neutral colors!
After that, the sun was up… really bright, so we headed into the senate chamber for some grande finale photos. What a treat!!! But… this was only our grande finale photos for when we were at the State Capitol Building. There was still more to come… elsewhere!
After finishing up the photos inside of the senate chamber, we headed to a local spring. As if Ashlyn doesn’t have enough passions and interests, she is also an outdoor enthusiast. So next, we headed over to Wakulla Springs for the REAL grand finale pictures. It was just the cutest!! Ashlyn added in her own unique flair, and personality, and I loved how these final pictures turned out. This sweet girl has so much joy in her heart and it shows in everything she does.

So, what is Ashlyn up to today? You can find her, serving locally as an intern for Sunrise Consulting Group. Ashlyn plans events and enjoys meeting local elected officials. Her ultimate goal is to become a political event planner. She also currently holds a volunteer position as the founding secretary of Pasco County Young Republicans, while still holding her position as a Page in the Florida Senate.
In January, Ashlyn will head over to the University of Central Florida, to study at their Rosen College of Hospitality Campus. She will be pursuing a degree in Event Management, and pursuing her dream of becoming a political event planner.
Ashlyn, I have no doubt at all that you will achieve your dreams. I have loved watching you work so hard and you are so close to achieving your dreams. Thanks so much for taking me along on our adventure to Tallahassee. It was a joy to hang out with you and your mom and capture “all things Ashlyn”!! Keep working hard, keep your eyes on Jesus, don’t lose this fire that is in your heart… and you are going to do great things! I am so proud of you.
